The Rectors of all nine partners of EUT+ have endorsed the Caliper Charter at an organisational level in a joint commitment to foster inclusiveness and gender equality in research and innovation. Building on the European Union's active promotion of gender equality in research since 2012, the Caliper Charter represents a transformative initiative designed to create lasting change in organisations and ecosystems.
The Charter is a European-wide advocacy effort to consolidate and strengthen the current intersectional and intersectoral approach to gender equality in research and innovation in view of the ERA Policy Agenda from 2025 and the forthcoming Horizon Europe Work Programmes.
Endorsing the charter across our European University Alliance opens up many possibilities for EUT+ to act as inward and outward change agents adhering to its three essential values and principles of fostering inclusiveness, redefining innovation and combatting gender-based violence. Our collective endorsement enables shared commitments to action.
Partners of EUT+ can now more easily align to common pathways in developing future gender equity plans that draw into their joint commitment lean to the principles and calls to action within the Charter. They can continue to support knowledge sharing in the collection of good practices on inclusion, diversity and intersectionality. The alliance can leverage stakeholder engagement and partnerships from local to European level to support shared actions, Partners can also align and engage more collectively on approaches such as co-design and whole of society approaches that help re-define innovation and draw on diverse mindsets.
At a European level, EUT+ can share in the collaborative effort to build a solid body of knowledge and practical tools for mainstreaming of an inclusive gender equality approach, utilising our nine European locations.
Moreover, this is a significant milestone where EUT+ partners are publicly standing up to embrace the values and principles of the Caliper Charter. This means re-thinking innovation concepts and promoting efforts to address gender disparities, empowering underrepresented groups, and integrating an intersectional perspective. This outlook is seeking to break down barriers, challenge biases, and ensure that opportunities within R&I for EUT+ are accessible to all, regardless of gender, ethnicity, socio-economic background, or other intersecting factors.
