Susanna Nocchi is involved in Work Package 2 as co-leader of the WP2.1 XR Team working on the vision and design of an EUt+ immersive VR environment. She has recently started collaborating with the EUt+ European Laboratory for Pedagogical Action - Research And Student-Centred Learning (ELaRA). Susanna has a PhD in Applied Linguistics and lectures in Italian language and culture and Digital Technologies for Language Learning at TU Dublin.
Her main research interest is Computer Assisted Language Learning, particularly in the affordances of Extended Reality and Immersive Virtual Environments for intercultural competence and language learning. She has also researched Language Policy Planning, focusing on Foreign Language Policy in the Republic of Ireland.
Susanna has been actively supporting plurilingualism through her work in the Irish Association for Applied Linguistics, in the International Association of Applied Linguistics, and with the Irish grassroots movement One Voice for Languages, of which she was one of the founding members. In line with the values of Openness and Humanism that are at the core of the EUt+ vision, Susanna believes in the cognitive and social benefits of learning foreign languages and that plurilingual and intercultural competencies are essential to a democratic, accessible and integrated Europe.
