Vessela Frengova is task liaison in TUS for WP2 Task1, Thriving in Multilingualism and Multiculturalism, and as such, tries to support and contribute to the numerous activities of the working groups included in this task, namely ITCO, EUt+Verse and the Language Pool.
She strongly believes that the existing diversity of languages and cultures in the alliance is a great advantage to all EUt+ students and members of staff and that developing professional competences in engineering can be greatly enhanced by working on overcoming linguistic and cultural barriers.
She held the position of the Director of Department of Foreign Languages and Applied Linguistics (DFLAL) at the Technical University of Sofia for 8 years, and is currently Vice-director.
Her background is in teaching English as a foreign language and as a language for specific purposes. She has a CELTA diploma from the University of Cambridge and a Master's Degree in English Language and Literature from Sofia University, with a specialisation in Applied Linguistics.
Her research interests and project experience relate mainly to areas such as teaching and testing ESP, methodology of teaching, curriculum development, using innovative (technology supported and not only) approaches to teaching and learning in and out of the classroom, developing professional and academic competences in students, soft skills, etc..
She is an enthusiast who believes there is nothing impossible - it could be improbable, difficult to achieve, unlikely to happen but possible!
