Online Intercultural Workshop for hda-employees on 7th July 2022: kick-off event for exchange and networking between EUt+ employees
After a warm welcome from Mr Steinmetz, the President of the University of Applied Sciences Darmstadt (hda), employees of the University were first given an overview of interculturality and multilingualism based on a survey conducted at the hda in 2022. The International Office then presented information about the possibility of travelling abroad to EUt+ partners within the framework of Erasmus+. Around 35 staff members of the University of Applied Sciences, Darmstadt and eight EUt+ guest speakers from the language pool (WP 2.1) participated in this workshop.
Based on their selections, employees were divided into working groups in advance and allocated to sessions dedicated to an EUt+ partner country with an EUt+ guest from the "Language Pool". The hda employees had an opportunity to speak to the EUt+ guests and through presentations, discussion and interaction they enhanced their intercultural understanding of EUt+ countries, cities and universities. This enabled direct exchange and initial networking between the EUt+ employees.
The workshop brought together employees from a wide range of roles at the university, those in administration, teaching & research as well as those with intercultural expertise.
The event’s goals were intercultural learning and exchange between employees, getting to know each other and initial networking as a basis for reaching the objectives around shared understanding of multiculturalism and multilingualism as well as staff mobility.
Evaluation of the event is in process and a similar online event is planned for the EUt+ partner Troyes in October 2022; all other EUt+ partners were able to attend this meeting. All information will be collected and presented shortly in an ‚Intercultural EUt+ Pool‘ which will be accessible for all staff.
This project was organised by the Language Centre of Darmstadt University of Applied Sciences (Contact: Dr Stefanie Morgret, Hochschule Darmstadt).
